Improving Web Design

Not all web designs serve their purpose of generating leads to your site. There are websites that do not even get their desired traffic, which is not too good for an online business owner like you who must have invested on web designs that rather turned up to be rather flop.

While getting a new website designer would be a great help, it would simply be just another investment or an added expense for you. Listed below are some ways to improve your website design, less the expense of course.

Balance your page. Images and graphics may really be eye-catching, but internet users are after the general content of your page. They are after the text that you put on your page, so keep a balance between your text and graphics on your site.

Keep it simple. Remove all unnecessary visual elements from your site and keep it clean and clutter-free. This is necessary to further emphasize main features of your site which are presented in text. This also makes your site easy to navigate.

Fix your fonts. It is important that you use standard fonts throughout the pages of your site. Sans-serif fonts like Arial and Verdana are the ideal choices for on-screen reading. Keep fonts between 10 and 14.

Use subtle backgrounds. The texture and the color you choose for your web site affects the overall appeal of your website. Too much images and textures on your site can be distracting and may compromise the readability of your text.

Put up some graphics. There are some places on your web site that need to have graphics. Your company logo for example, is your brand recognition and you should always come up with it. Small icons such as ‘home’ and ‘back’ also familiar graphic designs which you should not get away with because these are the icons internet users are familiar with. Just don’t overuse them, though, or you may end up messing with your website.

Easy navigation. Create and place toolbars that will direct your visitors to specific parts of your website. And don’t forget to set up a link to your homepage.

Keep your text readable. Emphasize key points on each page of your site. Highlight keywords and key phrases in the content of your site by making them bold or using a different color.

Make it quick. Visitors would not want to wait long hours to upload a website or a web page. So make sure all pages load up as quickly as possible. Unnecessary graphics often times only lengthen loading time, so minimize the use of it.
